The Venice Experience

Venice is a painter’s paradise. Around every corner, over every graceful bridge is a magical composition waiting to be captured by you. Every artist must experience Venice at least once in a lifetime.
The journey planned for you is the ultimate artist’s fantasy. You will fly to Venice where a private water taxi will pick you up for the trip across the lagoon to the dock of one of the most elegant hotels in all of Venice. This is the perfect location, only minutes from the very heart of the city.
Painting locations have been planned with care and attention not only to visual interest and variety, but also for the convenience of the artists. Some of the iconic scenes are included, of course, but we will also experience the quiet canals and charming campos seldom visited by tourists. Expect to walk in the footsteps of Sargent, Turner, and Whistler. We will have access to a very special location never before available to any group of artists. Paint for a day on Burano, the most colorful of all the islands in the Venetian lagoon. The houses here and their reflections in the canals will demand your entire palette of colors. Our own private boat will make the journey to the island convenient and relaxing.
One morning you may choose to visit Murano for an optional tour one of the factories making the most famous glass in the world. The afternoon is free. You may choose to find your own painting location, give in to some shopping or just relax.
From the welcome dinner to the final critique with cocktails, your experience in Venice has been designed to delight the artist in you and to inspire memories for a lifetime.
This adventure will be filmed for inclusion in an episode for Passport & Palette. You will have the opportunity to talk about your experience and your painting and share your work. Sol of Spain

Spain is a land of warmth, passion and a turbulent and colorful history. Artists have recognized the excitement of this land and expressed their feelings in paint for centuries. The amazing Diego Velazques, the artist’s artist, Joaquin Sorolla, and Francisco Goya, revered by all of Spain are a few of the greats. And now, it’s your turn. Our adventure will be in Andalusia in the south of Spain. Our home will be historic Ronda, a town of the perfect size that seems made for artists. Split by the dramatic El Tajo gorge, roots of its Roman beginnings and Moorish occupation are still evident and present tantalizing subjects. Cross the 18th century Puente Nuevo, that straddles the 100meter chasm below. Discover La Ciudad, the old town, with its cobble stone streets and gleaming white buildings. You will hear the bells of the many churches and the clip clop of carriage horses as you wake to dramatic views of the gorge. We will spend a day in one of the famous Pueblos Blancos, white villages. Enjoy the views of the mountains and olive groves on our trip to this jewel of a hill town. A free day is yours to visit the many museums, shop, return to your favorite painting site, or just relax and feel the very different pace of southern Spain. Even more exciting news is that this will be filmed for inclusion in an episode of our show, "Passport & Palette". You may, of course, choose not to be filmed, but I promise that it will be fun and never an inconvenience to your painting experience.

She knew that she would spend her life as an artist. There was never a doubt, only a detour, and even that was in commercial art. She graduated from the University of Texas, earning a
Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, then moved to New York and became a Senior Art Director for Young and Rubicam Advertising, working on such accounts a Merrill Lynch and People magazine. In New York, she continued her studies in fine arts at the Art Student's League. In 1984 Arnett moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 1985, She married artist James Asher and they began their adventure of traveling and painting throughout the world.
She has exhibited at the Albuquerque Museum of Fine Arts, the Colorado Historical Society, the Tucson Museum of Fine Arts, The Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma, The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts in Alabama, the Cincinnati Museum Center in Ohio, The National Cowgirl Museum,and Art Asia in Hong Kong. She has participated in the Prix de West Invitational Exhibition at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum since 1996. In 2006 she was a featured artist at the Gilcrease Museum's Rendezvous Exhibition and continues to exhibit in this show.
Arnett has been featured in The International Herald Tribune, Southwest Art, Western Art Digest, The Artist's Magazine, Australian Artist's Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur, and the North Light books: Painting with Passion, The best of Flower Painting and The best of Flower Painting II. She has written articles for American Arts Quarterly, ART Ideas and The Artist's Sketchbook, as well as numerous articles for The Artist's Magazine, including their Art Clinic Column. In 1999 and 2005, she judged The Artist's Magazine National Still Life competition and was the cover artist for their May 2002 issue on flower painting.
She authored the North Light book, Painting Sumptuous Vegetables, Fruits and Flowers in Oil, which was published in 1998. The book went into a second printing as well as a Chinese language edition in 1999.
For the past 16 years, Arnett has enjoyed sharing her love of painting and the techniques she has acquired with students in workshops around the United States as well as Canada, Italy, France, England, Ireland and the island of Martinique. One of her favorite quotes about her teaching experience is, "Nothing is truly yours until you give it away."
Working from life, either plein air on location or from flowers in her garden, Arnett presents her subjects with a passion and reverence for the Creator of the original.
